1) The trailer body
This is the insulated box structure carrying the cargo. Brands such as Schmitz Cargobull typically manufacture the trailer itself – including chassis, doors and insulation system. It is precisely the insulation and structural integrity that ensure stable temperature performance during transit.

2) The refrigeration unit – the cooling system
Mounted at the front of the trailer is the refrigeration агрегate, often produced by Thermo King or Carrier. It is the core component managing cooling and freezing functions. In our fleet, you may see models such as Thermo King A-500 Spectrum or Carrier units on selected trailers.
Inside the trailer, ceiling evaporators distribute cold air evenly. Certain configurations also include an internal partition (bulkhead), which enables dual-temperature transport operations.

What does “dual-temperature trailer” mean and when is it important?

A dual-temperature trailer allows two independent temperature zones within a single transport movement. For example, refrigerated transport of combined chilled and frozen cargo. This is achieved through internal partitioning and independent zone control, preventing thermal interference between product categories.

This solution is typically used when:
  • you operate mixed cargo profiles (e.g., chilled dairy + frozen products);
  • you aim to optimise transport costs by consolidating into one trip instead of two;
  • you manage retail supply chains where mixed product loads are standard practice.
It is important to note that dual-temperature transport is not automatically suitable in every case. The cargo must be technically compatible, packaging must support thermal separation, a structured load plan is required, and operations must be managed by a team experienced in cold chain risk management.
